Richard Caldwell trains his horses using only
traditional Vaquero style methods. He learned
these methods while working as a buckaroo for
thirty years on a variety of ranches, including
the great MC where he was Jigger Boss.
Richard is an active competitor. He has received
the National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA)Superior
Title on 7 horses, has been awarded the NRCHA
certificate of ability on numerous horses, and
has been a finalist multiple times. He is the
only person to date to have won the NRCHA Triple
Crown Hackamore on a 3 year old. He has
also received a variety of Snaffle Bit,
Hackamore, Two–Rein and Bridle Championships
outside of the NRCHA. Richard was and still is
very active with various stock horse and ranch
roping competitions. Along with his extensive
show record, and demanding clinic schedule,
Richard has also achieved the highest ranking of
Master Farrier. |
Richard
and Nancy Caldwell currently
reside in Alturas, California.
They moved and settled
into Alturas in 2003 and set up
their training facility there.
Prior to then, they were both
active in Stock Horse
competitions, primarily with the
NRCHA.
They use,
represent, and sell quality
gear from top makers (&
friends) that Richard has
met through his travels.
Richard
also travels extensively
conducting clinics for
intermediate and advanced riders
who are looking to perfect their
own style of riding, many are on
the same path creating fine
Bridle Horses. In 2011, Richard
will be heading to Europe where
he has been asked to conduct his
horsemanship clinics. He tries to limit
his clinics to an average of 15
a year, as his time is thinly spred between clinics, training
horses, and various
competitions.
When they are not busy competing
and giving clinics, they are at
home riding and training horses,
most being their own.
