BOSALS & BOSALITAS

BILL BLACK
|
 |
Bill
and I met when we Buckaroo'ed
together on the MC, and have
become long time friends. I am
fortunate to be able to carry
his inventory on this site.
There can be quite a long
period of waiting for an order
from Bill Black, as you may
know, his braiding is in great
demand. All of his work is
becoming valuable for horsemen
and collectors alike. A bosal,
or in fact any custom braided
product, by Bill Black will only
appreciate in value.
The inventory is constantly changing due to high demand. I usually
have a limited assortment on
hand of different sizes,
weights, and colors. Feel
free to contact me with what you
are looking for and I just might
have it.

HEADSTALLS AND SILVERSMITHING
|
 |
LINDA DOYLE
|
Linda is a great supporter of Vaquero
traditions and her work is well known in
her field. At the moment I have some
hand-crafted headstalls made by Linda
Doyle. Linda donated one of these
headstalls for our Vaquero Fiesta last
year, and they are not an everyday item
normally available without a long
waiting period.

MECATES

 |
DOUG KRAUSE
|
The pictures represent only a
sampling of the supply on hand.
They are only used for reference
as to sizing and pricing.
Colors of mecates come in a vast
assortment that is constantly
changing. Contact me for
specifics, and if I don't have
it on hand, I can certainly get
it for you.
All of my
mecates are American made by Doug
Krause. Krause
100x mane hair mecates are some
of the best made ropes
available, not to forget to
mention his 100% twisted mohair
mecates.
Doug has been braiding for over
30 years. About 10 years ago he
bought "Blind Bob" Mills
business and continues making
only quality rope products. He
has received several awards for
his braiding including 1998 Elko
Gathering Best of Show and 2001
Will Rogers Award Braider of the
Year.
The 4-strand get-down and the
2-rein mecates do not have a
heart, but are made with 100%
mane hair or mohair. All of the
6-strand mecates which I carry
are made with a 100% mane hair
or mohair with a heart(core).
The hearts are made with either
mane or mohair, depending on if
it is a mane or mohair mecate.
Though
more expensive, these allow for
more feel and weight, which is
what I like in all my mecates.
Though I prefer all my mecates
made with a heart, this does
understandably make them quite a
bit more expensive. However, I
can get mecates without a heart
for those on a tighter gear
budget. Click HERE for MECATE

DAVE FERRY
|
Voted Readers Choice Best
Western Knife maker 2009! True
West Magazine.
Nothing
that Dave makes or sells is mass
produced or stamped out. His
passion is making and riding a
fine bridle horse in the
Californio tradition and his
products reflect this passion.
Each is "designed from the
saddle for the saddle," ALL
knives are handmade by Dave
Ferry! Dave uses the finest
materials to create each
individual knife, and the knives
Richard sells are made according
to his requests. These knives
are heirloom quality and exhibit
a high degree of fit and finish.
The knife pictures are what is
in stock at the time the photos
were taken. At any given point
in time, our inventory of knives
might change. A custom belt
sheath made for that particular
knife is included with all
orders. Most of the sheathes are
the Leather tooled pancake
style. Almost all of the knives
are made with Damascus steel
blades. Each one is unique. The
knife handles are made from an
assortment including, and not
limited to, camel bone, sheep
horn, and rare colored stones.
We update our stock regularly,
but that does not mean that we
have more then one available in
each style. We can order a
custom knife, but as with all
custom gear, that involves a
long waiting period of time. We
attempt to always have some
stock on hand for those who
would like a knife, but not
necessarily want to wait to have
one ordered.
All our knives and sheaths are
specifically designed for
riding.

BITS AND SPURS
 |
Now and then I have a few
special hand-crafted American
made bits and/or spurs which are
made to my specifications.
These pieces are exceptional in
quality and craftsmanship.
All are beautiful works of art,
and I can only offer a limited
number for sale at any given
time. The spade bits are not
only valuable in and of
themselves, but they are also
made to be functional in use on
a bridle or 2-rein horse. The
pieces will vary by artist and
prices will usually range from
$2,100.00 to $3,400.00

BRUCE HAENER

couple pairs of spurs, both
women's and men's made by
Bruce Haener.
These are really works of art!

RIATAS
 |
All of the riatas I offer for
sale are again American made by
various buckaroos who know the
art of braiding. They stand
behind their work, and they know
that fellow buckaroos will be
using their gear.
Some of these braiders are
already legends in their own
time and their braiding will
only become more valuable as
time passes. I usually have two
or three available at a time.
Contact me and I can let you
know if I have any coming in
or what I happen to have in
stock.

RANCH ROPES
 |
We usually have bulk
ranch rope
available in a few different
sizes. What is available most
of the time are two sizes of the
gold or tan poly, a white poly
size, and a few pre-cut cotton
ropes:
The cotton ropes come in 50' or
60' pre-cut lengths.
The Gold Poly rope has a feel
that alot of folks think is
close to a riata. It is made in
3/8" or 5/16" and is 4-strand
with leaded weight added.
The 3-strand white poly is newer
on the market and has extra
leaded weight added. It tends
to be a little stiffer then the
gold, but still retains its good
feel.
We also now carry a synthetic
leaded grass rope in bulk and
can cut it to any size you
want.
Different rawhide hondas are
available and can be added to
any rope. |
SADDLE PADS
 |
There are
a lot of saddle pads on the
market today. However, these
are the best ones that I have
found and I use them
exclusively
on
my horses.
The pads are all Natural 100%
Wool Felt (90% virgin wool
blended with 10% recommend
wool). This is 40% MORE
virgin wool than ANY other
100% Wool Pad!
They have 3X more compression
protection then synthetic
neoprene pads, and they offer
even weight distribution and
impact absorption.
These pads have 4X greater
wicking ability, and eliminate
heat build-up.
I have looked and looked for a
pad that conforms to the horses
back with a natural built-in
curved backline. These are what
I have looked for. Until I find
something out there better,
these are the ones that I
recommend.
I don't keep all available
colors and sizes in stock. I
usually have the basic colors of
black, brown, and natural. They
are available in sizes of in
1/2" (underpad), 3/4", 7/8", and
1" . All of the pads are full
skirted of 32" x 32".

All items listed above are unique and
hand made.

we might have on hand.
CALDWELL VAQUERO SADDLE
SERIES
|
 |
I now have a series of saddles that I am
offerring for sale. I usually have only
1 to 3 on hand at any given time. They
are being made by Bob Ray, who has been
a saddle maker for over 25 years. I
have owned many of his saddles, and they
are one the highest quality made saddles
around. They will vary from very plain
to one that has alot of tooling. They
are all built according to my
specifications. If you are interested
in owning one of these saddles, contact
me and I can tell you which ones I
currently have on hand.

High Desert Saddle Trees |
|
 |
Hand built saddle trees set Bob Ray
apart from the vast majority of saddle
makers today. Only a very small
percentage of traditional craftsmen make
their own trees. Bob chose to learn
the art of hand built trees in order to
provide a complete package for his
clients while ensuring quality of
materials.
The trees used for the Caldwell Series
are made from mid-western
yellow popular. This wood is the finest
around with no knots in the wood,
extremely strong, and lighter then other
similar trees. Laminated forks and
cantles further strengthen the over-all
tree as well as the mortise type joints
that fit tops to the bars. There is no
need for wood putty as "filler" in these
trees. Bob uses the best Bull-hides on
the market as covering for the wood, and
the cantles and bars are reinforced with
fiberglass for extra strength for roping
and ranch work.
There are certain specifications in
a saddle that I have found over the
years that work for me and that I prefer
in a saddle. All of these saddles are
made according to those specifications.
If you are interested in what saddles I
have available right now without a wait,
feel free to contact me and I can give
you the details.
